What tax form to deduct project search expenses for IRS W-2 contractor?

Q.I am a independent consultant and did 3 and 6 month long IRS W-2 contracts. What tax form or schedule to use on project search expenses while out of contract?

A.On 1040A you can deduct unreimbursed job expenses over 2% income. There are some restrictions on kind of expenses. The standard deduction could be higher than this. Make sure you have receipts or other documentation (unreimbursed) for this. You would use Schedule C, to be filed behind the (other) 1040 main form.
