Is anyone using IRS Free tax File program?
Q.Is anyone using IRS Free tax File program? The web site lists several companies which offer "Free federal online tax preparation and e-filing for all taxpayers. No restrictions. Everyone qualifies". Are there any "gotchas"? Any reason NOT to use Free File?
A.Attention E-file Software Developers: The IRS has published a Request for Proposal for e-file tax preparation and transmission software for use in its free income tax preparation programs. The procurement has been synopsized at http://www.eps.gov. The solicitation has also been posted on the IRS Procurement website at http://www.procurement.irs.treas.gov. The solicitation number is TIRNO-04-R-00015.I used it and didn't have any problems. Although I would have had to pay for state.
