Some questions about Irs Form W4

Q.I have a few questions... I'm sure they seem kind of silly, but I'm really getting desperate! We have just moved, and surprisingly yesterday a letter was in our mailbox - it was a few days late, since it had been forwarded us from our old adress - that our AOS interview is this week. We were very surprised, because it has only been 9 months since we filed and 2 months since my fingerprints. Anyway, we are asked to bring several documents. One is my husband's (US citizen - I'm the immigrant) state issued birth certificate. It says hospital issued (the one we used when we filed) is not enough. The interview is in only 3 days, and the state of Iowa (which is where he was born, we reside in TX) says it will take at least 20 days to process his application to obtain this. How big of a problem is this? Is there any other way to obtain it? What happens if we can't provide one? It also says to bring W2 and W4 IRS forms from my employer. My employer, however, says she can't obtain my W4 for me. What is up with this? What _is_ W4, really? Also, it says that if we sent in copies of supporting documents when we filed, to bring the originals now. Which documents are considered the "supporting documents"?

A.Check the county where he was born. The county certificate should have the state registration number. You won't get adjusted until you get it. You might be able to send it after the interview, but that will delay getting the adjustment completed. A W4 is the IRS form you use to claim how many exemptions you have. The employer keeps it. I don't know why INS should need it., unless they want to confirm how many dependents he has. However, that makes no sense since they should have his tax return info. Are you sure they said W4? The only time you would have the W-4 in your possession, is when you are filling it out. W-2 is the annual statement of wages paid to you. You should receive multiple copies in January of every year in order to file taxes. There are usually services where you pay an extra fee and can get the birth certificate rushed. However, three days is a little too close probably!
