I conduct business in a proper manner, but want to take my share of allowable deductions. However, I don't want to trigger an audit. What items should I do to avoid an IRS audit? A.Just do your return and run your business honestly. Then if you do get audited, you have nothing to worry about. If you properly document your expenses and keep good records, I would not worry too much about triggering an IRS audit. First, very few audits actually take place.
