Looking for a 2006 chart comparing the IRS tax in various states
Q.I'm looking to move and would like a 2006 table/chart comparing the IRS taxes in various states.I've "googled", tried Money magazine, financial websites, federal.org etc and can't find a simple chart or dropdown table with info such as: State Income Tax rate, sales tax, property tax (by City), excise tax , etc. Ideally a dropdown table so that I could choose, say ... Nevada, So Carolina and Florida and have all items listed in columns to compare. Anyone have a good URL with current info ?
A.Have you tried Google with "state tax rates"? Following was the second entry: http://taxes.yahoo.com/statereport.html You won't find them all in one place. Sale tax for example varies by county or city. Real estate tax is also similar. There are so many regional variations that it's impossible to put them all in one place. It would be a challenge to create a web site with the information. The only probably would be how would it be maintained. You would have to constantly check with all local agencies to see if rates have changed. I think what you are asking for is not practical. A few years ago I created a web site with Amtrak info. I did it for the fun but there is no way I would want to keep maintaining it.
